What is a Case Hold Down Die?

A case hold down die is used for swaging a primer pocket or for priming. When swaging, the tip of the shaft holds the bottom of the case down against the swage

Instructions

Step 1: Refer to the Magnum Case Hold Down Die instructions to set up your die, and screw in the hold down tip on the end of the shaft.

Step 2: Place the primer pocket swage on the ram in place of the shell holder. Ensure you are using the correct swage size (small or large) depending on the size of the primer pocket you are swaging.

Step 3: Set a case over the swage and raise the ram up all the way.

 Step 4: Turn the die down until the hold down tip makes contact with the floor of the case. Tighten the die down 1/4 turn from there.

Step 5: Push the press lever down to drive the swage into the primer pocket. Check the swage. If more is required on the case, then turn the die down in small increments until the desired swage is achieved. Lock the die into place.
