Product Description

For decapping .17 caliber to .20 caliber cases, this Shorty Bull Universal Decapping Die includes a one-piece thinner-stemmed shaft with decapping pin.

Choose the size that suits your needs, either with .078" standard tip or .058" tip.

The decapping shaft is .150" diameter, slimmer than our typical Universal decapping die shafts. The thinner shaft will allow fitting into the narrow neck of the .17 caliber to .20 caliber case. 

The die bore diameter is .550. This die will deprime a large spectrum of cases from .17-.20 cal to 9mm Luger, up to .308 Win.

The body and cap are precision machined from steel with a hardened finish. Perfect vertical alignment in your press.

Shorter profile reloading dies are beneficial because the loader can see all the station dies while the press is operating and it allows for easy access to dies left and right of it. The short shaft adds rigidity and strength to the pin.

From inside out, this die is 100% hardened steel; extremely strong and will decap cases for years and years of reliability.

      What is the difference between the two versions of the Shorty Bull Decapping Die?

      • One version has a one-piece decapping shaft-pin and fully threaded cap specifically for decapping 17 caliber to 20 caliber cases.
      • The other version has a primer flicker cap and spring with the standard shaft for decapping up to .308 cases.
      • Both die bodies are exactly the same. The difference is the shaft and primer flicker cap mechanism.

      Can I purchase one die and the internal parts to convert it to decap 17 caliber up to .308?

      Step 1: Drop the shafted pin into the die body.

      Step 2: Tighten the cap into the cap well with the spring. Strongly hand-tighten the cap.

      Step 3: Lower the tool head or raise the ram.  

      Step 4: Turn the die into the tool head until the mouth of the die contacts the plate or shell holder. Back out ¼ turn.  

      Step 5: Turn locknut to lock it down.  

      If you're using the standard shaft with pin, add a touch of vibratite or loctite to the pin threads first then snug with a 3/16 wrench. Do not over-tighten.
